Daffodils/Thrift Store Pitcher and a Sweet Hubby

              Tomorrow is our 42nd Anniversary... Wow...How  the time has flown!!!
              We are so blessed...We have two lovely children and 5 grandchildren              
              and one step grandson.

               No Girls---- I am not that old [hahahahaha].. We just married , really
               young... Kenny was 19 and I was 17 1/2.


             We are leaving out in the morning,  Kenny has a doctors appointment..
             [3 hours away] And we are going  to stay a  few days..  Maybe find
             a few thrift stores.?? Just a little get away.

                                   Now...I will get to the Title of this Post!!!

                 Kenny is so sweet... A couple of weeks ago, [I am just now
                 taking the time to post. sorry] he went to the camp house, He
                knows that daffodils are my favorite flowers.. They just say
               spring..  Anyway, when he came home, he had a handful of
               pretty daffodils.. [After 42 yrs of marriage.. this is pretty nice!!]

               I found this cute little pitcher at a thrift store.. Just perfect for my
               sweet present..

Surprise Valentine Present..Early!!!

I went to the mailbox today, and to my surprise was a  package

Christmas Pillowcases... so fun to make

Set of Pillowcases for a  very special friend!

Always looking for places to embroider ..What  fun!


I decided to make these pillowcases in a fun Christmas
print fabric.. Then added a white border [so the embroidery
work would show up]. I made the bias tape from
a red/white stripe fabric for a contrast to the fabric.
They were so fun to make , and now they are in
the mail to my friend. I also,made one of the sweet
little Christmas trees to adorn the package..[thank
you Laura for teaching me this!! so easy and cute to make!]

 I have almost finished all my Christmas gift making.. So,
it's time to  clean the sewing room, make the candies,
clean the house and get ready for Christmas.

How Sweet is Kenny

Old Ball Canning Jar
 

Doesn't this look like a handful of wild flowers
from   a sweet little girl?

 Kenny is so thoughtful, He was out at his deer camp house, it
has some old sheds on it. and he was cleaning one out, when
he found this dirty old canning jar. He knew I would see the
beauty in it. And I did!!  I had been sick for a while, and was
house bound [no fabric stores was visited..oooh this was bad,ha].
 He brought  it home to me, I cleaned it and oh how pretty..
I have seen lots of old canning jars, but this one, had a  funny
shape to it..
  I told Kenny, all I needed was for a little girl to bring me
a handful of wild flowers.His reply,"I think Cindy[our grown
daughter] is a little  too old for that!"  So, I did the next best
 thing ,I went to my stash of artificial flowers,and gave myself
 a handful of flowers.. And I added a tiny little bird  to the flowers..
  How sweet...to have such a thoughtful husband. The little things
are what counts!!!!

Lovely Package From a Sweet Friend

This week had  been a really rough week for Kenny.. He has been really sick

and we have spent alot of time  sleepless, worring, etc. But just knowing we have
our many friends and family praying for us , is such a blessing.. And so apprecaited.


                                            When my day seemed so hard.....

I go to the mail box and what  a shocking surprise. My sweet, sweet talented
friend had mailed me a package across the world.[and she is sick ,herself!!].
As I tore into this package, The tears flowed. To think that   Rachel took the
time and made this lovely card. And added the sweet lace, and beautiful
buttons. And even added Kenny and I both a drink.. How thoughtful!!!
thankyou so much Rachel..  I will treasure my card for ever.

Valentines Day Is Special..Why?

Kenny and I  are approaching another Valentines Day together. You see ,we have been married for 40 years. And we have seen some really good times and some really hard times.. I can't remember a Valentines day , going by , that I didn't get a box of Valentine candy.

 Kenny is sick right now... and will be facing surgery on Valentines Day. This morning, he told me , he had to go to town.. Since, he has not really been out in the past few weeks ,due to his back troubles.I was shocked. I ask him, if he wanted me to drive for him..  He quickly replied," No. I need to do a few things."

 When he arrived home, a short time later, with a pretty box of valentine  candy..He knew ,he wouldnt be able to on Valentines Day.. I felt tears dwell up in my eyes. This is what you call.. Love!!

Papa & Maw Recieved A Special Christmas Present

 How special  can you feel , when you get that "Really Special" Handmade Gift  from a grandchild?
 Callie Noelle is 10 yrs old and in the 5th grade. Her teacher has a craft box, and  she let Callie
pick out any thing she wanted to use to make "anything".  As you can see, she made us a very special Christmas ornament. She told us, it was a cross on it, because Christmas is Jesus's  birthday.


Callie made this out of  a peice of plastic. She added 2 colors of green floral tape to the back.. She then made a cross from 2 peices of  white plastic. She took floral wire and molded  it and added beads..  What a special  Christmas Present.

The bird that came from Mn

What a beautiful bird that  came all the way from Mn.. to  live with me.. I feel so
honored to have this beautiful hand made  item.  A wonderful crafter made this,
with her own two hands and gave it  to me.. It is beautiful  and so well done.

Birthdays & Friends--What could be better?

I recently had a birthday..   It was a very good one.   My day was full with  family and the wonderful gifts , they gave me..  And late that afternoon,  the UPS truck came.. I wasn't expecting packages, so was shocked,  when he pulled in..  To my surprise,  there was this wonderful birthday present from my friend Cathe.   She is the most thoughtful and fun person .  She sent me all these wonderful things..  Polka dot fabric..[hint. you will be seeing this one show up on SW challenge]  a vintage red fabric [ because she knows  how much I love red and vintage],  a wonderful sewing tote bag.. I have already got to enjoy the  use of it.. [A recent trip to the doctors office,  it held my sewing books ,that I enjoyed ,while waiting .]   and  the most cherished item--- this tiny sewing machine. I wish you could all see it  in person..  It is adorable. The little drawer really opens and the foot petal really works.. So cute..

Present from a Friend-- [vintage sewing box]

Kenny and I  went to a small antique/thrift store in our small hometown.. We have visited it so much.. Rarely, do we see anything different.. We were browsing around , when my eye caught this little sewing box. It made me think of our past families.  Things were hard in that time.  They used what they had, and every penny was accounted for.  I could just imagine , some little  lady , with her so important sewing box.  It contained nothing  of value,  but memories for  me.
This cigar box, was not cardboard, but a thin wood.  The past owner,  had taken and put small little cardboard boxes inside the cigar box.  Each held , her much needed possessions. Tiny wood spools of thread,  a little pair of rusty scissors, thimbles, and  paper tape measures, an occasional button.  Laying on top of this was,  this big spool of blue thread???  I really wonder,  what this was?  Possiably... something from  a spinning loom?  I don't know? 
I walked away from this  treasure, knowing I had no need for it, and I already have an overflowing sewing room.   I  wandered around the store,  while Kenny talked with the store owner.  While, I was away, Kenny went and bought the  "special  little sewing box" for me. With much delight, I brought  it home, and it sits in my  over crowded sewing room.  Not only does it bring memories of yesteryear.. but of  a very nice day with my thoughtful husband.
