We have been living at our  "old- Farm House"
for a little over a year now.. Many changes have
been made..  Still lots of work to do. I found this
Farm Sweet Farm container at Hobby Lobby. My
Pioneer Woman fruit jars, fit in it perfectly..[Don't
you love when that happens?] Found the  galvanized
tray at hobby lobby too. [love that store]. It says,
"Thankful, Grateful, and Truly Blessed."  And it
is so true.

Our fruit trees have been giving us lots of fruit.. Figs
and Pears are coming in..
So I decided to make  some  Fig/Strawberry Preserves.

Figs and Strawberries are cut up , ready to began.I am sharing my  recipe.. It is a Paula Deen recipe..So easy and Delicious. Note , you can make just figs,
just strawberry or combine them..

Fig/Stawberry Preserves

10 cups of  combination of figs and Strawberrieswashed, stems removed and cut in half
3 1/3 cups sugar
1 cup water
2-3 teaspoon lemon juice

Combine ingrediants,  Stir and let sit for 30 minutes, until
sugar dissolves. Then put on  medium heat and cook for
30 minutes. Place in hot jars/lids.

All you need is  some hot buttered biscuits. yummy.

September  Fall Cleaning  To Do List

1- wash walls-- My plan is to  do one room a week,
I did the living room yesterday.

2- Clean the windows [outside and inside]. We are adding
new windows to the house , this next week..When we
moved, that was one job, we had not done.. So, this job
would need to be done anyway..

3-Kitchen-- wash the  inside and outside of cabinets, I
added new shelf liner, when we moved in May. So,
it should just be an easy wipe down?

4-- Bring in  [from storage building] fall/winter clothing
and start taking out the summer things.. This will be
at end of Sept or Early October.  When I do this, I will
go through clothes, and  make my donate pile.

5- Clean my fabric shelf.

6- Paint the storage building we bought..[waiting on the
cooler weather for that...whew...its hot !!!]

7- Start my fall decorating.  I love fall, and this
is fun...not work at all.

8- Sewing-- make my fall cushion covers for porch

9- Christmas gifts-- start crafting/sewing the things
I will be making.  Start doing some of the shopping
for Christmas gifts.

Some how......... when I write these goals out...it
seems so easy and quick........... But, sure doesn't
feel that way , when I do them..lol

Hope you have a wonderful week.

Coconut Pop Corn...[Free pop corn container]

Yummy Popcorn
My daughter told me about this yummy
pop corn.. Just melt some  coconut oil in
your skillet, add a few tablespoons of
pop corn and salt.. Oh my , it is so
good.. No need to add butter...
NOTE... You will have a hard time quit eating it.
smile.

I had bought a bag of popcorn, and was looking for
a container.. I had a parmesen cheese container.It
is perfect.. It has the lid ,that opens and a  tablespoon
will fit into or  the other side opens to the big sprinkles,
you can just shake out , how much you need. Works
great..
Note-- This lid will also fit on a quart or pint
fruit jar [if you have a bigger quanity  of pop
corn to store.. These lids are really  useful, for
so many things.. I never throw them away any longer.

Extra Fresh Veggies = Squash Chow Chow

Squash Chow Chow  that should be called
Multi Vegetable Chow Chow

We are getting lots of fresh vegetables from the garden.
So, I made a batch of Chow Chow, I have had
this recipe  for years, and have always changed up
the  squash to a multi of different vegetables.

This will be really good this winter with  those peas and
butterbeans. Also,  a spoonful over the chicken tacos
is super good!!

 Recipe

12 cups grated [or cut up in small chunks] squash-[I used a mixture
of yellow squash, white squash, green tomato, cucumbers

2 large onions

2 large bell peppers

Optional-  2 -3 hot peppers [any kind you like]

5 teaspoon salt [once you have chopped above vegetables,
sprinkle salt over  it. Set in refrigerator [covered] overnight.

The next morning:  Bring to a boil:
2 1/2 cups vinegar
1 teaspoon tumuric
2 teaspoon pickling spice
4 cups sugar
Once it boils and all this is dissolved good, pour on top
the vegetable mix. Bring this to a boil, and boil for
20 minutes. Put in jars [that are cleaned and  prepared
for canning.

notes:
1-  I put my pickling spice in a  piece of cloth and tie it up,
and then put in the vinegar mixture. Once it is cooked,
I remove and throw away.  I don't like the seeds to be in my
 chow chow.

2-You may use your choice of vegetables.. just what ever
you have on hand.. I have even added shredded cabbage
when, I was short on above veggies.
3- Use  the hot peppers that you like, and  the amount of hotness
you like. I don't add the hot peppers.

4- You can  grate  or cut these veggies ,any way you like? The
original recipe said to grate , I have done this, But I like
the texture of the chopped veggies the best!
