Callie... Kindergarten to Senior .. Where did the time go?

Callie.. 5 yrs old and headed off to kindergarten. I remember
the year so well.. She really did not want to start school ha.  I had baby set her, [while mom worked] for
those 5 years. I was so very loss , when  she went to school.
I didn't realize , how fast time would fly. And I would be posting
photo of a senior , this soon..
[Life is like a vapor- here today and gone tomorrow]

Callie - 16 yrs old. heading off  to school. She is now a senior.
Wow.. that's hard to believe.  She is a very sweet girl. She
started school and made straight A's.. She  made it through
school with not a single B. So very proud of her. She is
graduating a year early.. She never really liked school, and
had rather start college early and  Quote from her..." Get it
over with  asap". lol
She called me last night, to tell me , she had made home coming
court. She was excited, as she didn't know if she would even
be allowed to , since she was graduating early..

God has really blessed Kenny and I with 2 wonderful kids and 5
grandchildren. As, we watch them grow up, there is a sadness,
but also a very  proud time too .. Seeing them serve the Lord and
become adults. This is what God intended. And I am very thankful.

Amy's New Chair-- [ Re-upholstered]

Amy Grace's  "New" make up chair.
Front

Back

We went to visit our  son and his family for a couple
days. Our son is pastor, And just moved to a new
church.  This antique  chair was left  in the  house,
at the make up table..  Amy [one of our twins] fell
in love with it. There was only one problem????
The chair had a very UGLY  yellow velvet covering
on it. [sorry we forgot to get a before photo.]  Amy
really disliked it. She had this pink/white fabric.. She
ask me , if we could  cover it.. So off  to work we went.
In an hour or so,  Amy had a new chair.. She was very
happy  with  her new make up chair.. And I was
happy  to  work with her  [and her mama helped us too.😉
I made both girls a new dress while there.. Will  share
photos of them wearing them soon.

Twin Granddaughter's Dresses..

Ashlee Gail
Her dress is  orange /white polka dot, with white
lace trim and blue silk flowers .

Amy Grace..
Her dress is a bright sunshine yellow/white polka
dot.It has a white trim with blue silk flowers.

Dresses were made from a simple a-line dress
pattern. Has cute little sleeves and  lace trim.

Of course, I could not leave well enough alone..[That is
me for sure.ha]  I found these little hats, and thought the
girls would enjoy playing with them.. I could not find
a white one.. so I got blue hats, and added orange /white polka
dot ribbon and a a white /blue silk flower. I added the
blue flowers to the dress..to bring in some blue.

Amy's dress got the same treatment. I also got her
a matching purse and trimmed it out to match
the hat...
Note:  Ashlee told me,that she really didn't like purses..
[Figured you would wonder why she didn't get a purse.ha]

This was fun sewing.. I had the fabric in my stash.. So, only
bought the hats and purse.

I told about this make here.

Elsa [From Frozen] Costume for Emily [Plus update on Callie]

Emily Morgan
15 yr old granddaughter
When she came and ask me to make her an Elsa Costume
for  School Spirit Week [dress up week]..Of course, I said,
'YES"----  I did not   realize that  the sheer snow flake cape
would  give me  a  house full of glitter  and FUN?

But yes,  I would do it again... She  was thrilled and had
a really fun day at school..

The photo does not show it, but no only is the cape sheer glitter
snowflakes, but the sleeves and upper bodice is sheer fabric\
and so not fun to sew.. She had to wear a  tee shirt under
it for school, due to the dress code.

Note: Update on Callie [thjs is  Emily's sister]
Callie is improving.. She is still having some small seizures /tremors.
But, they are working on regulating the medicines.. She is very
tired. But we are very thankful for the improvement, and very
thankful of all your prayers.

Update on Callie

Praying for Callie

Callie went to the  pediatric neurologist on Friday..  She has  Juvenile  Epsilepsy
It is not the kind , that she will out grow. She  will have  to take meds
the rest of her life. They have started her on  these. and will work to
get them  regulated.  She is still having seizures at night.  She has 3 types
of seizures. They are:
1- The convulsive type-  which is the bad ones. like she had last Thursday, when she
quit breathing and required CPR.
2- Myoclonic Seizures-  this is where she has the jerking/spasm on the right
side of her body.
3-small seizures  [during her wake hours]. that only last 8-10 seconds.  The doctor
said. she nor anyone else  would notice it. But,  she is doing this so  much,
and  has been for a long time. that is why she is always so tired, and needs
sleep.

We are very sad, that  she has to deal with this , for the rest of her life. But, are
so thankful , that it is treatable with medicine. We know, the  outcome,
could have been so much worse.

I want to say a special thank you to all my blog friends. I thank you so much
for  all your prayers and thoughts. May God bless each of you.

ps.. went by  to see her after church.. she is still sleeping a lot, and  not
feeling well.. Hope the medicine gets regulated, and she feels better soon.

Skirts/Tees for the Twins [and a few other sewing projects -completed]

Ashlee Gail

I made the girls a  monogrammed  pocket
for a RTW t-shirt. I had lots of  chevron fabric
left, so I make them  a simple a-line skirt.
They both like them, they said,  they look
like big girls.ha

Amy Grace

Disney princess pillowcase dress for Elly.

I was asked to make this Doc McStuffin
a-line dress for a little girl. It was super easy
to make.  It has one button in the back..  I
embroidered "Doc McStuffin" on
the yoke.. This little girl  LOVES this cartoon.

When my life settles again, I have lots of sewing
for me, planned. Happy sewing to each of you,
and again thanks for your prayers for  Callie.
Will update when we know something.

Prayers for Callie

                                                                   Prayers for Callie

Callie is our 13 yr old granddaughter. She is a very sweet and lovely
girl. Just a joy to our lives.

On Thursday night, I got the worse call , that a grandparent could imagine.
Cindy called, and when I answered the phone.... All I could hear was,
screaming and crying,  She said," Mama, please pray, Tell Daddy to
pray... some thing is wrong with Callie, I don't know what?, " I was hysterical and ask
" what is wrong?". the phone went dead..  A few minutes later, it rang.
She screamed," Oh Mama,  Callie is not breathing, Stanley is doing CPR,
and the ambulance is on its way."   I have never felt such terror, in my life.
When we got there,  She was being loaded on the  ambulance.

After many test,  The doctors said, she had  a seizure.[she has never
had seizures or no one in our family]. She stopped breathing, not sure
why? They have called a pediatric neurosurgeon
at Lebourner Childrens  Hospital in Memphis, Tn., to get her an appointment
.Cindy  is scared to go to sleep, scared to leave her in a room alone, It is terrifying.

She seems to be doing fine now..  Other than when, she goes to sleep,
her hands are jerking??? Not sure what is going on?

I know that God is in control, and He is with her, I  pray for strength \
and courage to trust Him and know that He will take care of our sweet
                  girl.

Please remember Callie, when you pray..

2 out of 4

Now, I will start on the  older girls dresses.
Have made muslins for   them.. So am
waiting for them to come today... So I can
tweak it a little more, before cutting into
the real thing.

Tuesday, March 25, 2014

Oh No---Easter is almost here... and I have 4 dresses to make?

I spent the last 4 weeks working on biblical costumes. I did 28 for
a church in New Hamshire. Such an honor for me..  But, it took
my sewing mojo.. Had to take a break.. but couldn't seem to return??
                              However..my 4 granddaughters , don't  know any thing about
"Maw has lost her sewing mojo!!"  They just know, they want
new Easter Dresses. ha So the sewing table is piled high with
                               Dresses to be made!!!

Muslins are being done for the 13 & 15 yr old girls.
Using an old bed sheet.

The girls dresses  have a sheer bodice over a solid bodice,
with gathered skirts. The skirts have ruffles [from the sheer
fabric]. So, I have made and corrected the fitted bodice
muslin, and have cut out the overlay bodice muslin.
Just need 2 girls to come and try them on?

Emily's dress.. This gorgeous fabric arrived  today..
Now, I just need the lining fabric to get started.. Her
Mama ordered this on line, so we had to wait for it
to come.. so we can find a matching lining fabric.

Callie's dress.. Her fabric is the same as Emily's..But in a
coral pink color. Callie is 13 and tiny. But, she loved
this pattern [Mccalls- Emily's pattern] However, the
smallest size was just way too big, to alter  to fit her.
I found this Simlicity pattern, that came in a smaller
size.. The bodice is almost the same as the McCalls
pattern.. I am going to  use the Simplicity bodice
and put  the Mccalls skirt on it.

NEXT:

While waiting on the lining fabrics, I will  start on
the twins dresses.. They chose  a vintage sailor
top and skirt.. They are still in the children's size
patterns, so fitting will be easy on this one.Yea.

Amy and Ashlee chose the  set on the left.
The skirt and top will be blue,  with white collar
and red ties. I will add red trim to the collars.

Not only do I have to finish these 4 dresses by Easter,
I also will be gone the first few days of April. Kenny has
a doctors appointment in Tn.. And our 42nd anniversary
is April 1 st. We have decided to  make a mini vacation
out of it.. Nothing major, just a little get away..

PS.. I must add [for the girls who have known me awhile, and
know my willingness to take my sewing machine ANY WHERE
I go.]  Kenny has already said, "no, your not taking
your sewing machine.. You are going to rest!" lol

ago. Stacie had emailed me awhile back , to tell me she had some
                                       children's sewing patterns,and ask did I want them..[YES!!! YES..

Christmas  Presents are all wrapped and under
the tree, Just waiting for those Grandchildren
                                               & Children to arrive.

Amy & Ashlee my twin granddaughters  love the
Duck Dynasty show. I found this Duck Dynasty

I added brown piping between the yoke and skirt
