Callie in her Colette Ginger Skirt [hack]

Callie spent the weekend with us.. She had worn
her  ginger skirt to church, so I took  some photos
              of her wearing it..
NOTE..click on the photos to see a close up.

Callie Noelle- 15 yrs old
Wearing  the Ginger Skirt [Colette]
Sweet  Callie ... 2/19/2017

This skirt was an easy make.. I used the Ginger skirt
pattern. I closed up the back [instead of putting the
zipper in]. I opened the front and added  2 1/2 inches
to each front piece  for a fold over facing.  I did
not use the waistband pattern , that came with the
skirt. I used a straight narrow  band. [Callie
had found a RTW skirt on line , and that is how it
was made.]
She loves her new skirt.. And that is what pleases Maw..

Hope you have a blessed day.

New Look 6129- Skirt

New Look 6129- Skirt with pockets

The fabric was from my stash,  A cotton blend with some stretch,
which I found at the flea market a couple years ago.. My intentions
was for this to be a muslin,  But it was so comfortable, I decided
to wear it to town to run errands today.. It will definitely be a
wearable muslin. And I will be making another one. Love the two
                                   front pockets.

Sarah Liz, the  MAGAM challenge, author, made this pattern
awhile back.. It was so cute, that I went and bought the pattern..
So happy , she shared this pattern.

                                   Happy sewing.

Judy has been Sewing... but not blogging

For my April MAGAM challenge, I made 5 pair
of simple  pull on elastic waist shorts.. I needed
some  simple shorts for working in the garden,
and around the house.. I did finish these the last
of April.. [sorry I have not blogged about them]

Sweet pink and white pin stripe dress , for a
friend's daughter.. Embroidered initial..

Elmo/Cookie Monster Dress for A sweet
little girl.

Angel Costumes

Now this is what has kept me so busy...
I  made 16 of these for  a customer in California.
They are having  a parade.. and most of  the ones
I made were sizes 2 to 6.. I just bet those are
going to be a  sweet bunch of angels.

Now,  that I have finished all that.. I will be
sewing some summer things for me..
I did go to Hancock's, during one of the  pattern
sales and pick up some more patterns [ No, I
definitely don't need them. lol]
Happy Sewing.

Sewing Basic Garments... Some Fabric /Pattern Ideas

Fabrics that I Purchased at Joann Fabrics
and some from Stash
I bought the aqua blue linen and the deep purple linen.
Both of the floral linens from my stash, can be mixed
and matched with  the solids. Check my
previous post , about this.
http://sewblessedmaw.blogspot.com/2014/01/singer-perfect-plus-book-ideas-for-me.html

Photo did not pick up these too well.. The first one
is a  deep plum color ..So pretty, and I can see it
as a basic skirt, pants or even a jacket.. I haven't
decided yet.?  The white and pink  are from my stash,
they too will blend in with these basics. Patterns
and  garments will be decided later.

This is my Feb. Garment of the Month Challenge.
See & Sew 6914
I have enough of the aqua blue for the pants, and also
a skirt or jacket?  I am thinking about the jacket in
my new Singer Perfect Plus- Mix & Match book.

This has nothing to do with  building  the basic wardrobe.
Sarah liz did this cute little skirt .. I really liked the pattern,
and noticed I had it in my stash.. So, I am doing a muslin
in this  Navy check fabric.  I will bind the pockets with red
piping [if it turns into a wearable muslin. ]
You girls know I love red, and it has to show up in
anything I make. lol]

This is what I am dreaming of right now..Of course, these
plans are subject to change.

Happy Sewing, and I hope you all are staying warm..

McCalls 8609

I have been so busy painting [Kenny's deer cabin] and working in our
"too big" garden. That sewing has been put on the back burner..  Yesterday,
I needed a sewing fix... so,

I decided to do a simple blouse pattern , that
I have made in the past.. The fitting was already
done, and it is super easy to make. I have had this
fabric for 2 yrs. It is a linen fabric, that is cool
and comfortable to wear. The photo doesn't show it
very well, but I used some berry red round buttons
from my stash.
http://sewblessedmaw.blogspot.com/2011/06/new-fabric-store-joanns-and-grand.html
I have some golden color linen from my stash ,that I want to make a Colette
Ginger skirt from.

Simplicity 1699- Was it Meant to Be?

Simplicity 1699--  Was this pattern meant to be sewn by me?
Well, I think so... Let me explain. I bought this pattern
at one of Hancock Fabric's $1 sales awhile back.. I got
it home, and really didn't think too much about it.[you know,
you just have to buy a pattern when they are a $1]

Then came this book-- Sew Stylish.
I  was on my way to the doctor, and ran into the store
to get something to read [always a long wait to see my
doctor and I for got to bring me a book] Anyway, when
I got to reading it, there  was  an article in there , where
3 different people had taken this pattern and  made
it in different ways.. The pattern had begin to look better.

I fell in love with  the Candy Stripe version.. I loved
that the stripes were running different directions, I
loved the cute pockets that she added [and included
the pattern for ,in the magazine].

 Love the pockets!!!

Remember me saying, I must use my stash... I don't need
to buy any more fabric.. OOOOPS..  I failed!! well,
I had no red/white stripe fabric [I did have  some
blue and white stripe.. but I reasoned with my self,
it wouldn't be as pretty as this red/white seersucker]..

The 3 different versions in the magazine.

I like this blue/green version too.. I foresee doing it too!

SO,  this dress is on my  cutting table, or rather should
I say... It is in the muslin stage right now.
Happy Sewing.

Fabric/Pattern Choices for " 2013 Top Essential Sew Along"

Vogue 8815

Cotton/polyester blend fabric

Sassy Librarian  Blouse
[sorry the photo didn't show up, My ink was just about out
when I photocopied this class material]
Cotton fabric.. teal blue with rose colored flowers.

Colette  Violet [My 4th one..I love it]
linen fabric light blue with darker blue designs

White on white stripe linen
WIP--- Colette Violet.. I actually started this
blouse , when the  pattern first came out.. I had lost
some weight after cutting it out , and it no longer fit.
 So I tossed it aside.
Since that time, I have lost some more weight,
 but decided, this was the
perfect time, to  redo this beautiful fabric, in the
redo pile.. I took a break , last night and  resized it, and
sewed a little on it.. [cheating Judy,  Sew along is not
 until Sunday!!! OOOPS!]
As I told you here:
http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6755312589615767449#editor/target=post;postID=8271824357969141658
I am busy working on 4 grandaughters , Easter dresses,
so I am not sure , how many  blouses, I will actually
get done, during this 2 week sew along.. But , I will
commit to one, and we will see ??
However... these are on my sewing table for spring
and summer sewing...Along ,with several new dress
patterns. and of course t-shirts [a brand new world
for me..sewing with  knits.. thank you Stacie.]

NOTE:  Do you know what I  noticed?   I love red, you
all know that... And every time , I pick out fabric..it is red
or has red in it? Do you see all this blue? hummm... not
like me at all.. I must be going through a  blue phase.lol

Shopping with My Girls..Leads to This!! WIP

Callie.. 11 yr old grandaughter.. [she is really tiny, so we
are still in the little girls patterns..so Maw , has to make
them look older for her!!] ..Will make purple piping for the neck
and she has a purple cardigan to wear on Easter day.
Emily - 14 yr old grandaughter Will do the  fuller skirt version

Note: Emily & Callie are sisters... Cindy always tries
to match them..so that when she takes her Easter photos,
they will look good.. I will share the photos after Easter.
Amy & Ashlee , my 8 yr old twin grandaughters will
be wearing  sailor dresses on Easter day. I found this
vintage pattern on ebay. The dresses will have white
collars, red trim and ties.
When you head to  fabric stores on spring break , and the patterns
are $1.00...  This is what Callie came  home with.
Emily came home with these.

During spring break , Cindy,Emily, Callie and myself went
shopping. We went to look for Easter dresses.. But, before
the day was over... we came home with fabric and patterns.
Amy & Ashlee called and wanted sailor dresses too.
SO
What will Judy be sewing the next 2 weeks?  Easter dresses
for my sweet grandaughters..

Our spring break shopping trip, was really fun.. We went out
to eat, and sit and talked and had a really fun "giggley girls day out".
We shopped until this"old lady" was give out!! But what a  fun
DAY!!!!

fabric, just made me think...Spring!! Even though,
it's not here yet, I will be happy to wear this
little shirt with some shorts or Denim capris.

Note: the blouse doesn't have a hump on one side. I didn't
pull it down on Mary Christmas [but she didn't mind,ha].

this summery floral print, That just said, "vintage".
I love the shawl collar on it. and the covered buttons.

Vogue 5777 Finished

Vogue 5777
Vintage Vogue 5777

I finished this vintage pattern that  was given to me in a pattern
swap by: Busy Lizzie..  She had made this dress, and I fell
in love with it. Sorry my photos didn't pick up very well. The
navy and white check  really blurred. The pattern went
together really well. The fabric
was  a knit that I had in my stash... I put red handmade piping in the
neck. I covered the buttons with a red  fabric. I also
made the belt that came with it.[But, it just didn't work
for me, so I used a RTW belt , I already had].Check
out  Lizzie's dress she made.. Thank you Liz for the pattern.

Burda 8363 T-shirt for Me

My first knit t-shirt

I used  Burda 8363 and did the t-shirt with
long sleeves.  It is really not  a t-shirt pattern., but
I didn't have one..And this one worked. I have
never sewed knit for my self. This was my first
time and it was  so easy and fun to sew. Super
comfortable to wear. So, I have a couple

Sailor blouse #2-- Simplicity 5482

Simplicity 5482
Nautical Childrens Print Fabric from Jo Anns Fabric

Bias Tape  made from fabric remanants

This is my second blouse from this pattern. It was so easy to make
and so cool to wear. [Folks ...we have had one  HOT/ HUMID summer
here in Ms.] I found this cute little nautical fabric..It has tiny little sailor
boys all over it, and anchors.. So cute.
                                 http://sewblessedmaw.blogspot.com/--   see the fabric here

Merry Christmas was so sweet to stand in for me, for these
photos. I have had this blouse made for a couple weeks, just
waiting on photos..  But ...........[as usual things don't go as
planned].  I had a pre cancerous spot taken off my face [of
all places], trying to wait for it to heal. Then this ole asthma
hit me, and PREDISONE.... is not a  nice medicine to take
while trying to do photos.lol [it swells your face  up]. So.
Merry Christmas was a sweetheart and stood in for me..
BTY...I am wearing this top today with a pair of denim
shorts. It is is super comfortable and I like it better than
the first one. I cut down the size a little and it has a better
                                fit.

Patterns & Fabrics.."Ooops..Fabric store sales"

Patterns Why??? Because  Hancocks had a 99  cents sale!!
And I could not resist.lol
I have been seeing the   last dress pattern on many
blogs and  really like the way it turned out.. The   blouse pattern
just caught my  attention.. And the first dress in the photo,
 really looked comfortable.

the top fabric is  really pretty rayon silky fabric. The bottom
left one is  a really pretty challis with silver sparkles. The
right  pink with polka dots is a twill , for a skirt.
How do you resist such beautiful fabric, when it is on sale?

This is a tiny black and white check twill fabric.  I  want to
make some dress pants/slacks.

Tooooo Cute.. Of course, I have to buy for my grandkids.
The raggedy ann and Andy was so cute. And then
Abby Cadabby, is  afavorite of one of my friends
children. And last but not least.. is the cute little
nautical fabric. It has tiny little sailor boys on it..
I cut this out  and am working on another sailor  top now.

Happy sewing to all of you.. Sorry for my lack of sewing post.. I have
been putting up purple hull peas, butterbeans and  it has been
really busy and hot!!! Hope your enjoying your summer.
