Suspender Skirts for Grandaughters

Suspender skirts made
from upholstery fabric.
I got the idea for these
skirts from Sew Country
Chic. She makes some
really cute clothes for
her daughters and herself.
Check out her blog.
Center strap added to keep the shoulder
strap from falling off shoulders. Justine's idea for this
was great. http://www.sewcountrychick.com/2012/10/a-folksy-suspender-skirt.html

Sewing Room ----Redo Projects

Desk Chair-Oh how ugly you were!!
I had the 'Most Comfortable" Desk
chair in my sewing room. My husband
rescued it from being thrown away, and
brought it home to  me.. I have been using
it for years.. [hint...you didn't get to see
it when I took photos in my sewing room,
I hid it,ha] Kenny took the cushions off
for me, and I took it outside for a much
needed coat of black paint!!!Just look at
these ugly cushions.. They are headed for
a brand new look.. I will use the floral
unholstery fabric , seen below.

Beautiful floral upholstery fabric and Red /white
gingham check.. The was in a bag at the thrift
store for $3.00.
Floral fabric-- 4 yds
Gingham - 5 yds..
I am going to cover the cushions of my desk chair
with the floral..The red check will be come a table
skirt..

Lots of work to do before the finish line!!! But

How Sweet is Kenny

Old Ball Canning Jar

Doesn't this look like a handful of wild flowers
from   a sweet little girl?

Kenny is so thoughtful, He was out at his deer camp house, it
has some old sheds on it. and he was cleaning one out, when
he found this dirty old canning jar. He knew I would see the
beauty in it. And I did!!  I had been sick for a while, and was
house bound [no fabric stores was visited..oooh this was bad,ha].
He brought  it home to me, I cleaned it and oh how pretty..
I have seen lots of old canning jars, but this one, had a  funny
shape to it..
I told Kenny, all I needed was for a little girl to bring me
a handful of wild flowers.His reply,"I think Cindy[our grown
daughter] is a little  too old for that!"  So, I did the next best
thing ,I went to my stash of artificial flowers, and gave myself
a handful of flowers.. And I added a tiny little bird  to the flowers..
How sweet...to have such a thoughtful husband. The little things
are what counts!!!!

Judy's Been Sewing---Dresses for Grandaughters

Amy and Ashlee

Ashlee and Amy

I am back..It has been a long time.  I was sick for a long time, and my
computer crashed.. I had to replace it.. But , all the while ,I have been
sewing. I will be posting my projects ,as I get photos of them. SO
good to have a computer again!!!

Jumpers & Blouses for  Amy and Ashlee [twin grandaughters]

I made each girl a blouse with peter pan collars. [They have to wear
uniforms for their new school, and this is their colors]. But,I decided
to add dresses  that matched the blouses.. The new blouses could do
double duty for new dresses.. I also made them  a 1/2 slip to go under
the dresses..[But  no pictures of the slips,ha]
The jumpers were both made from fabric in my stash.. I embroidered
thier names on them.

So  fun to sew little girl clothes..

Update on Judy [Missing in Action}

Hi my sweet friends,

Thankyou all so much for your sweet commments and prayers, I  appreciate it so much.

I am home from the hospital [Thank God.], I am still battling the asthma and it is winning
[lol]. I have to stay in for awhile. I have an appointment with my pulmonologist [lung doctor]
tomorrow. My doctor wants him to see if he can think of something else to do or change?
But , I do feel some better today ..So I feel I am heading up the hill  now.Yea!!!  Ready to'
sew.

As for my computer, I got it out of the shop, but as the computer doctor said, it's on it's
last leg, and I lost all my stuff on it..[So, If any of you have emailed me, I didn't get them,
and I have lost all email addresses too..so until I hear from you, I will have no way to get
them back, so sorry.. Please email me  your adresses again.].  As soon as  I can get out ,
I am going to buy a new computer. But until then.. I am hoping to be able to , at least , be
able to  communicate with my buddies and check out sew weekly..[sure  have missed  all
the sewing and what you lovely girls  have been doing].

   Hugs to you all. Judy

Judy is missing in action!

For those of you who think I have disappeared off the planet, I am still here!  My computer crashed (so I'm borrowing my granddaughter's at the moment)...........No computer leaves me in withdrawal~ :(

My asthma's been giving me fits, so my doctor has decided that I need to take a little "vacation".....I am going to lay in bed, rest, and have all of my "wonderful" meals hand-delivered to me (in the hospital).  Hopefully, I will be out soon, and my computer will be out of the shop as well, so that I can visit with all of you, my dear friends again!

House Cleaning?? or Work on Hobbies?

House work.. She has the right idea!!!

Scheduling house work?
I was visiting one of my favorite blogs this morning, and by the way, this
girl really amazes me at how well , she keeps her lovely home and children
going so smoothly.. She was talking about the summers being more
relaxed, [ vaccation from homeshool], and being lax with schedules
during this time of year.. It made me wonder about myself??

You see, I love my house work to be scheduled for  each day, and to
work out perfectly..BUT.............. Some how or  another, I  have
never been that kind of person.. It seems , I make the schedules,
and something in life.. will come along and change that day? Whether
it be,  an unattended illness, a friend that needs a  baby sitter,  a friend
that needs a companion..  A  chance to get out and hit the
stores or  fabric stores? [and you know, I sure can't resist
that chance,ha]  or  Judy decides she wants to play?? So,
the house work schedule...just got throwed off...

What about you??? Are you scheduled ? Does it work? Please give me
some tips..

Sailor blouse #2-- Simplicity 5482

Simplicity 5482
Nautical Childrens Print Fabric from Jo Anns Fabric

Bias Tape  made from fabric remanants

This is my second blouse from this pattern. It was so easy to make
and so cool to wear. [Folks ...we have had one  HOT/ HUMID summer
here in Ms.] I found this cute little nautical fabric..It has tiny little sailor
boys all over it, and anchors.. So cute.
                                 http://sewblessedmaw.blogspot.com/--   see the fabric here

Merry Christmas was so sweet to stand in for me, for these
photos. I have had this blouse made for a couple weeks, just
waiting on photos..  But ...........[as usual things don't go as
planned].  I had a pre cancerous spot taken off my face [of
all places], trying to wait for it to heal. Then this ole asthma
hit me, and PREDISONE.... is not a  nice medicine to take
while trying to do photos.lol [it swells your face  up]. So.
Merry Christmas was a sweetheart and stood in for me..
BTY...I am wearing this top today with a pair of denim
shorts. It is is super comfortable and I like it better than
the first one. I cut down the size a little and it has a better
                                fit.

Patterns & Fabrics.."Ooops..Fabric store sales"

Patterns Why??? Because  Hancocks had a 99  cents sale!!
And I could not resist.lol
I have been seeing the   last dress pattern on many
blogs and  really like the way it turned out.. The   blouse pattern
just caught my  attention.. And the first dress in the photo,
 really looked comfortable.

the top fabric is  really pretty rayon silky fabric. The bottom
left one is  a really pretty challis with silver sparkles. The
right  pink with polka dots is a twill , for a skirt.
How do you resist such beautiful fabric, when it is on sale?

This is a tiny black and white check twill fabric.  I  want to
make some dress pants/slacks.

Tooooo Cute.. Of course, I have to buy for my grandkids.
The raggedy ann and Andy was so cute. And then
Abby Cadabby, is  afavorite of one of my friends
children. And last but not least.. is the cute little
nautical fabric. It has tiny little sailor boys on it..
I cut this out  and am working on another sailor  top now.

Happy sewing to all of you.. Sorry for my lack of sewing post.. I have
been putting up purple hull peas, butterbeans and  it has been
really busy and hot!!! Hope your enjoying your summer.
