Making Summer PJ'S [Colette Violet Pattern]

Summer PJ's
[I  am so ready for spring!!!]

Two Toast Made several pairs of comfy pj's..After  seeing
them.. I decided I needed to make my self some. I liked
her button up loose style, for comfort.  After checking
all my pj  patterns, I didn't have a button up top.. So,
I  decided to use the Colette Violet blouse pattern, for
the top.. [Just  enlarged it from my regular 14 to a 16
and added 2 inches to the length]
I wanted some cool summery fabric, I had this cute orange
floral stretch cotton.. But not enough to do both top
'and pj pants.. So, I made the pj pants out of  an orange
gingham check..
Check out Two Toast 's blog, to see her cute pj's.

Now.. when spring gets here.. I have new pj's just
                                                Waiting to be worn...

What  a lovely gift  that arrived in my mailbox  a couple weeks
ago. Stacie had emailed me awhile back , to tell me she had some
                                       children's sewing patterns,and ask did I want them..[YES!!! YES..
how do your refuse patterns.ha] I had forgotten all about them..
what a fun Valentines Day package. Thank you Stacie.. This was
so sweet of you. I appreciate each one.. And they will be well used..

New Ironing Board Cover for Antique Ironing Board

I needed an ironing board for my sewing room..When
I am sewing, I run back and forth to the pantry room,
where my  ironing board resides. Too much trouble.
                                        So..
I remembered, years ago I bought an old antique wooden
ironing board at an estate sale.. It has been in my closet,
for years.. here is the transformation:

Layers and layers of old fabric.. And underneath
all that was a wool ironing board cover
but it was crackling and dry  rotted.
All of this came off.

I laid  out several layers of quilting cotton on the floor
and  laid the ironing board on top..  I cut around the
cotton, leaving enough to wrap over and tack
it to the board.

My new ironing board cover.. I wanted to be able to take
it off and wash it.. So... I  took 2 cotton fabrics,  traced
around the ironing board, [same way I did the cotton
batting, above].  I put right sides together and sewed
all the way around, leaving a small opening
in the end, to be able to turn inside out.
then pressed it.  I turned it  down about 2 inches
and stitched it.[Making a casing for the rope]
I put my cord in it.  and left opening at the end, for my
cords to come out.  Drew it up around the ironing board,
and it was all finished..

Here is my finished  antique ironing board. A new
life  has begun for it.

On the wooden legs,  I saw  that it said,
National Washboard Company.. Wonder
when and where , it came from???

Sewing Basic Garments... Some Fabric /Pattern Ideas

Fabrics that I Purchased at Joann Fabrics
and some from Stash
I bought the aqua blue linen and the deep purple linen.
Both of the floral linens from my stash, can be mixed
and matched with  the solids. Check my
previous post , about this.
http://sewblessedmaw.blogspot.com/2014/01/singer-perfect-plus-book-ideas-for-me.html

Photo did not pick up these too well.. The first one
is a  deep plum color ..So pretty, and I can see it
as a basic skirt, pants or even a jacket.. I haven't
decided yet.?  The white and pink  are from my stash,
they too will blend in with these basics. Patterns
and  garments will be decided later.

This is my Feb. Garment of the Month Challenge.
See & Sew 6914
I have enough of the aqua blue for the pants, and also
a skirt or jacket?  I am thinking about the jacket in
my new Singer Perfect Plus- Mix & Match book.

This has nothing to do with  building  the basic wardrobe.
Sarah liz did this cute little skirt .. I really liked the pattern,
and noticed I had it in my stash.. So, I am doing a muslin
in this  Navy check fabric.  I will bind the pockets with red
piping [if it turns into a wearable muslin. ]
You girls know I love red, and it has to show up in
anything I make. lol]

This is what I am dreaming of right now..Of course, these
plans are subject to change.

Happy Sewing, and I hope you all are staying warm..

January Garments Finished for my Garment of the month Challenge

Navy Wrap Skirt /Polka Dot Blouse

Polk Dot Blouse
I decided to make the blouse short sleeve, so
I would be able to wear it , during the spring
also. But for now, the red sweater was just
perfect!
[sorry the top is wrinkled, I had worn it
to church and just pulled it off] I  didn't get
a photo of it ,while I had it on.. And wanted you
to see it too..

This is a really comfortable set. I love the top,
The little button at the top, the
 neck opening,
just all of it. I already have  blouse #2 cut out,
and ready to sew.
It sure is nice to have my January Garments finished.
Now, I  will be able to plan for Feb.'s garment..
Or---Just sew another garment..
Happy sewing to all.

Navy linen for wrap around skirt

the blouse.

Some Garments I Made in 2013

                                                     Sewing in 2013

I didn't sew as much "for me" this year.. But thought I
would share a few of the things , that I have worn the most.

Indygo Junction Tunic
Love this tunic.. Have worn it alot.. I have
another one  already planned out,
when spring gets here..

I  finally got over my fear of  knits, and made
t-shirts..  And I really wear them a lot.

Another T-shirt.

[Terrible photo sorry]
I took the Fitting class on Craftsy, and made
this peplum top.. Vogue 8815
I have worn it a lot.. and I really learned
a lot from this class.

Easter Dresses for my 5 granddaughters.. Always
so fun to sew for my sweet girls.
Love this skirt, Even though , I just finished it,
I see it getting lots of wear. I have worn it
twice already.. So super comfortable and warm.

The other 2 Easter dresses.. Such fun..

Pray that you each have a blessed and  Happy
New years..  May God richly bless you..Thank you
for  reading my blog, and being such an
inspiration in my sewing life..

The Dresden Plate Quilt that Took 30 Years

I can remember the shopping trip and the fun that Cindy and I
had ,about 30  yrs ago.. We went to the fabric store, and Cindy,
who was 9 or 10 at the time, picked out the fabric to make
this quilt ..It was going to be a comforter for her bed.. I pieced
each block by hand.  I even sewed all the strips together and
                                     got the  quilt top made..
                                                                HOWEVER:
It never got quilted?  Why--- you ask?  I don't know!!
It ended up  in a box , put away, and rarely thought
About.  I saw it a  few months back, and decided to have
it machine quilted by a friend of mine. Yesterday, I decided
to get it out  and hem it..
                                                                SO
After 30 years.. I will be giving this quilt to my baby
                                     girl .[who is now 40]

Can't wait  until she comes to visit , so I can give it to her.
She will be shocked!!! She has teased me for years, about
never finishing her quilt!!! ha

Christmas 2013

Christmas  was  wonderful. The kids and grandkids were home.
We had a lovely meal [I probably gained 10 pounds.eeeeh]
May God bless each of you with a wonderful New Year.

The  redone PJ's were a big  hit.. Callie  loved them.
And said , she hoped that any  pj's in the future,
would be too short, so she would get more
like this..[ I think all the grown girls wanted
some too.. ha]

Amy & Ashlee  modeling their  Duck Dynasty dresses.\
They made the  sweet Christmas banner ,while
here, and added to our decorations.. Such sweet
girls.

Kenny, our oldest grandchild, with his new Duck Dynasty game.

Emily and Kenny our 2 oldest  Grandchildren.
Emily will be 15 in May and Kenny will be
15 in April.. Our sweet babies are growing up
on us..

Papa is having fun with his Best Buddy. She
just gave him a  heated blanket for his recliner.
He is wearing the  label on his head.. [What
he wouldn't do for this  girl... She most
definitely has him wrapped around
that little finger]

Christmas is all cleaned up, the tree and decorations are
packed away again, waiting on another year. SO ,
now it is time to get the sewing machine back out.
I will be posting a sewing  post, real soon..

Happy New  Year to each of you.
