Plain Pattern Project Challenge

                Plain Pattern Project Challenge

                 By: Shelly [New Vintage Lady

Rules for the challenge: Runs from 7/20/11 through 12/31/11

1- Must be a basic pattern [from your stash]
2- Must be a pattern ,that you have never used before.
3- You must make it 3 times. With one of the garments..being
as close to the original pattern picture as possiable. The
other two, can be changed .

I am so excited about finding this challenge. I love the idea of using a pattern more than once. Once you get the pattern fitted, you can use it again and change it up. I also, like the idea of having  6 months to do this.
I cant wait to  get to my sewing room and search for the just right pattern. I will be posting my  pattern soon.. And the fabric that I will be using for my first  dress.
Wouldn't it be fun.. to do this same pattern in a summer dress, the next one into a fall  dress, and then into a winter version.. All with the same pattern. Of course, this is still in the thinking stage..I MUST go to my sewing room and pick a pattern, before deciding all this,ha. Another decision is?? Should I go with a vintage pattern [which I love] or should I choose a modern pattern??? DECISIONS????????????

  1. I have decided to join this challenge too! I am actually enjoying the process of picking out my pattern. I think because I know I will have the luxury of tweaking which ever one I choose and the fact that there is a generous time frame, I am really looking forward to this one.

  2. Good Morning Judy!

I just had to stop by and say "hello" and let you know that everything is fine here...just busy, busy, busy! You are so sweet to worry about me! We've been going strong in our gardens...I'm already canning and freezing veggies and berries. We are also getting ready for our new goats...and I can't wait to make cheese and soap!

I've been doing a lot of "gift" sewing this summer...for showers and weddings. I would really like a few days to be able to work on a few dresses for me...but I'm looking for a certain type of pattern (vintage). I have some nice cotton that I'd like to make a house dress out of (sort of like the one that Olivia wears in the "Waltons"...remember that show??)...but I haven't found the pattern yet. I want it to have a straight skirt to it...and a rounded collar...with buttons to the waist. I suppose I could combine several patterns...I'll have to think about it. Sure would be nice to just find an old one though. Oh, well.

Praying that all is well with you and your family. What are you working on right now?

Have a blessed day, my friend,

  3. Hi Laura,
Proud all is well with you and family.. Busy here too.. But thankful for the wonderful veggies too. Have a great day..God bless.

  4. Judy, I'm so curios to see what pattern you pick. I like the summer, fall and winter version!
