Emily's Black Band Recital Skirt

Emily [my 13 yr old grandaughter] had to have a black skirt/white shirt
for her band recital.  She had outgrown hers...so Maw came to the rescue.
I made her this skirt from  my "sewing for children" book. It is the anja
skirt pattern. I have made it 3 times for her, as it really works well.

I could not  just do plain ole black..So, I cheated and added the white/black
print fabric for the bottom tier of the skirt.

  2. It is lovely! I remember being in 8th grade and looking everywhere for a black dress for a concert. We finally found one, but it was so big that it still fits me today!

Emily is lucky to have you sewing for her. :)

  3. Good Morning Judy!

Oh, she is just too precious! I can remember these days...all three of my sons played in the local school band...Joshua plays the clarinet and Samuel and Daniel play the baritone horn. Black pants and white shirts were their dress as well! It is so difficult to find dress clothing for children nowadays...Emily is so blessed to have you!

The sun is shining here on the coast this morning and it is simply beautiful on the ocean!
Hope you are having "sunny days"...I think of you often, my friend!

    With love,
    Laura

    1. Thankyou Laura, Emily plays the saxophone.. She loves band. She had a black skirt from the year before, but it didnt work this year.. So..you know, Maw was so happy to make this for her..
Isn't it sad that they don't make pretty dresses [rarely] for children anymore? If you see one, it is so indecent.. sad!!!

We are having pretty weather too.. Getting really hot fast.. Our summers are normally really humid, so that is kinda bad. I bet the ocean is beautiful. Such a beautiful place to live. You are very blessed.
Have a great day my friend.
