Some Garments I Made in 2013

                                                     Sewing in 2013

I didn't sew as much "for me" this year.. But thought I
would share a few of the things , that I have worn the most.

Indygo Junction Tunic
Love this tunic.. Have worn it alot.. I have
another one  already planned out,
when spring gets here..

I  finally got over my fear of  knits, and made
t-shirts..  And I really wear them a lot.

Another T-shirt.

[Terrible photo sorry]
I took the Fitting class on Craftsy, and made
this peplum top.. Vogue 8815
I have worn it a lot.. and I really learned
a lot from this class.

Easter Dresses for my 5 granddaughters.. Always
so fun to sew for my sweet girls.
Love this skirt, Even though , I just finished it,
I see it getting lots of wear. I have worn it
twice already.. So super comfortable and warm.

The other 2 Easter dresses.. Such fun..

Pray that you each have a blessed and  Happy
New years..  May God richly bless you..Thank you
for  reading my blog, and being such an
inspiration in my sewing life..

The Dresden Plate Quilt that Took 30 Years

I can remember the shopping trip and the fun that Cindy and I
had ,about 30  yrs ago.. We went to the fabric store, and Cindy,
who was 9 or 10 at the time, picked out the fabric to make
this quilt ..It was going to be a comforter for her bed.. I pieced
each block by hand.  I even sewed all the strips together and
                                     got the  quilt top made..
                                                                HOWEVER:
It never got quilted?  Why--- you ask?  I don't know!!
It ended up  in a box , put away, and rarely thought
About.  I saw it a  few months back, and decided to have
it machine quilted by a friend of mine. Yesterday, I decided
to get it out  and hem it..
                                                                SO
After 30 years.. I will be giving this quilt to my baby
                                     girl .[who is now 40]

Can't wait  until she comes to visit , so I can give it to her.
She will be shocked!!! She has teased me for years, about
never finishing her quilt!!! ha

Christmas 2013

Christmas  was  wonderful. The kids and grandkids were home.
We had a lovely meal [I probably gained 10 pounds.eeeeh]
May God bless each of you with a wonderful New Year.

The  redone PJ's were a big  hit.. Callie  loved them.
And said , she hoped that any  pj's in the future,
would be too short, so she would get more
like this..[ I think all the grown girls wanted
some too.. ha]

Amy & Ashlee  modeling their  Duck Dynasty dresses.\
They made the  sweet Christmas banner ,while
here, and added to our decorations.. Such sweet
girls.

Kenny, our oldest grandchild, with his new Duck Dynasty game.

Emily and Kenny our 2 oldest  Grandchildren.
Emily will be 15 in May and Kenny will be
15 in April.. Our sweet babies are growing up
on us..

Papa is having fun with his Best Buddy. She
just gave him a  heated blanket for his recliner.
He is wearing the  label on his head.. [What
he wouldn't do for this  girl... She most
definitely has him wrapped around
that little finger]

Christmas is all cleaned up, the tree and decorations are
packed away again, waiting on another year. SO ,
now it is time to get the sewing machine back out.
I will be posting a sewing  post, real soon..

Happy New  Year to each of you.

the tree, Just waiting for those Grandchildren
                                               & Children to arrive.

Beginning to smell   in the house.. Christmas
                                              is on it's way.

The sewing machine is put away  , until Christmas
holidays are over. The last of the Christmas
                                              presents are made.

Amy & Ashlee my twin granddaughters  love the
Duck Dynasty show. I found this Duck Dynasty
fabric the other day, I just knew I had to make them
 quick little jumper.
[it has ducks all over it, and  the words "Duck
 Dynasty" all over].

I added brown piping between the yoke and skirt
part of the dress.  Embroidered the  words
"Duck Dynasty Girl".. I hope they like them.

Christmas tree is up and  presents are wrapped!!!
Now Santa is watching over the tree [just for a
little while- Then he will move on to the
Coke Museum...] For you that don't know,
Kenny is  a big coke collector.. and has a big
shop full of coke stuff. I found this display for
him.. He wanted to sit it in the Living room
and admire it.. But it has to be taken
away , before the hustle and bustle
of children playing /running /jumping
and ENJOYING  Christmas..

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to each of you.!!

                                                    Fixing Callie's Pj's

I have 6 grandchildren to buy Christmas for.. So..what does a good
Grandma do? Well, all through the year, as she sees things, they will
like, she buys and puts away until Christmas..[Hint: you always buy
clothing, a size bigger- works every time=well that is until this year!!!]

Cute Cozy Pink Flannel Pj's
{oops-- Callie hit a growth spurt and  got
much taller!!]

So, what does Maw do? I head to Wal mart , with

                                                         Sewing  In November

I have  not done any sewing for me in November,I
have been sewing some Christmas gifts. And lots and
lots of costumes for different Churches and Schools.
I didn't post photos of the costumes...I have done
that in the past..and they all look alike.ha.

Cross Pillow cover.. Made from an off white linen fabric,
for a friend of mine.. She just built a new house, and
has an antique church pew in her entry way.. She
wanted a pillow cover, with  a cross on it.. Hope
she likes it!!

Christmas pocket t-shirts ..

Remember , the snowmen dresses that I made for
my friend's daughters.. Well, I had some scrap
fabric left.. and thought I would do them a
matching purse for Christmas.

Log Cabin Quilt block
I made 2 of these for my sister.. I am going to make them into
pillow covers.

Sorry for the bad photo..
Young fellow at my post office just had twin girls.
So I made the mama a pocket t-shirt with the yellow
gingham check. Appliqued the foot prints, and put
the girls initials inside the feet prints. The dresses
are yellow check with navy check trimming and ties.
I did the same applique as Mama's. This was fun
to make.

RTW scarf, that  embroidered Initials  on ,
for Cindy [my daughter]

Christmas Skirt for a special little girl!!

Hunting theme Christmas stocking ornaments..
now.. I couldn't leave Kenny out.. Yes...... I
went and bought a cheap tree for the hunting
cabin, and make  these stockings and   I also
made some pine cone ornaments for it.

I have been super busy sewing.. Just no garments for me..
Hopefully, I will make a Christmas outfit before
December is over???

Thanksgiving "Turkey Dresses" for my Friend's Girls

Turkey Dresses for   a Friend's Girls

Thanksgiving is such a special time of year. My friend's
little girl, ask her mom, 'why don't we have any
Thanksgiving dresses? Why does the stores have  all that
Christmas stuff out , and it is Thanksgiving? Why don't we
celebrate  and be thankful for what our forefathers did ?

I am sure  she got all her questions from  studying about
the pilgrims in school .[she is 7].
But....
Let's be thankful for our many blessings , that God  gave us.
Happy Thanksgiving.. and sending prayers that you and
your families will have a blessed  Thanksgiving.

Snowmen Dresses-- Christmas is on it's Way

Snowmen Minky Dresses

I have been doing tons of sewing.. Just really nothing to
blog about.. [Lots and lots of costumes for churches and
schools -- but I have posted photos of these before, and
                                they all look .HA]

However , a friend ask me to make snowmen dresses  for her.
This is #1- and I have 2 more to go.. The snowmen faces are
appliqued on via my embroidery machine..The dresses are made
from minky fabric. So soft and cuddly!!![and my sewing room floor
                                looks like it is snowing.ha]

Sorry about the red shirt  I put up under it..It most definitely
is the wrong color red.. It is all I had here, and the little dress
                                form ...didn't look good sleeveless.ha

Sewing Memories--- Wizard Citation Sewing Machine

Wizard Citation Sewing Machine from the early 70's

Singer  Alter & Fit  Booklet from the 60's

I found this little  Singer booklet on ebay , last week.
When it arrived in my mail box.. I was amazed at how
well  written it was. And some of the same basic rules
of  altering ,as we use today.

This  made me think of my sewing. I took Home Ec in school, as
all girls did back then [in the late 60's]. I loved it.
Kenny and I married as young kids. I wanted to sew,
so the first year we were married, he bought me this
sewing machine at Western Auto..
They are not made like this any more.. All metal parts.
Very basic machine..None of the thrills of  the modern
day machine. I sewed on this machine for  25 years.
And , if I remember correctly... it only went to the shop
for minor repairs twice. It still sews to this day.

I had put it away , but just could not part with it.. It sewed my
daughters wedding dress, My daughter in law's wedding dress.
And many dresses for Cindy growing up.  I needed a belt
for it, and could no longer find  them in the fabric shops.
I found one on ebay.  I put it on and  sewed a little on
it. Brought back such fond memories..
