Making a Fall Pillow Insert & Pillow Cover Tutorial

Finished Pillow.. So easy
Supplies  used---
Pumpkin ribbon [choose any fall ribbon you like]
Black gingham check from stash [ 1 yard]
Walmart plastic bags [free] for stuffing.

I wanted to  make a  pillow insert for a  small pillow,
I made this one 10 in x 10 in. First, I made my pillow
Cover. I cut a long strip  of the gingham fabric that would
go around the pillow and lap over 3-4 inches.I marked
my center and pinned [and then sewed] my pumpkin
ribbon  on.  I hemmed the ends of the  pillow cover. I then,
folded it over the width I needed for my 10 x 10 in pillow
form. [This will be inside out at this time]. I sewed the bottom
and top  all way across. Turned the pillow cover right side
out.  TA-DA----it is finished.

The pillow insert  . I cut  two  10  1/2 in squares .
Sewed all way around it, leaving a space open to
insert my plastic bags. Turn right side out. Iron.

Keep stuffing the pillow form , until it gets as firm
as you like it. Ladies, I saw this idea on a blog  last year,
sorry I can't remember who to give credit to.
It took quiet a few bags.. but this worked really well.
I used a needle and thread  and stitched it closed.

NOTE:  I intend to  use the black white  pillow insert
for Christmas also.. All, I will have  to make is the
Envelope pillow cover  with a Christmas ribbon..

Super easy project and fun..

Nothing Says Fall Better than Apple Pie and Crafting a Fall Wreath

My New Fall Wreath
note: click on photos for a better view.

Gathering the supplies to re-do an old wreath
into a fall  wreath.. Plus-- spray painting
a styroform  pumpkin to decorate.[Found the
pumpkin at a junk store for 50 cents]

After painting my 50 cents find.. I took some
orange and black ric rack trim, and some small
pumpkin ribbon to  put on it.

Nothing says Fall like Apple pie.. and when my sweet
friend emailed me , that she was going to the apple farm..
She was going to make apple butter.... well... that REALLY
made me think about apples.ha

[ps --- Kenny really likes my friend, since this
is his favorite pie.. Cathe.. he says, Thank you!!!]

I have sewed my pumpkin pillow  .. And have added it
to my fall decor. Will post about it soon.

Sewing Projects in Process

Adding lace pocket and  lace around hem line, of
some cute stripe RTW  t-shirts for Emily & Callie.
I saw these shirts in the mall, they were expensive.
So, I found some cute tees, bought some lace
at Hancock's [with my 40% off coupon].
Simple summer top for me.. Will be doing view A.
I have had this strawberry fabric in my stash for awhile.
Not sure where I got it? It is a cotton with a small
amount of  stretch. This will be a loose fitting
top. Nice and cool for summer.

While I was doing the lace tees for the girls, I decided
to make myself one.. [Didn't have enough lace to
go around the hem line, so  I just got a pocket..]

Happy Sewing, and hope you all have a blessed week.

Anniversary [yes..on April Fool's Day]

43 rd  Anniversary

Today is Kenny and my , 43rd anniversary..  Where
did all those years go? It seems only yesterday , that
those two young folks said, " I do".

Kenny is one of the kindest and most honest men ,you
will ever meet. I admire him and always have. He is
a wonderful  Christian man that loves God and loves his
family. He is funny , and keeps me laughing.[And yes,
he can make me mad too.lol] He is always there,
when I need a pick me up.. and he is always their
to defend me [He thinks I am always right.ha]

We were very young.. I was 171/2 yrs old, and he was
19 yrs old. [Yes..we were too young!!! ha]And we had a
hard time, especially during the  early years.. Raising 2
kids, and both of us returning to school and getting
our  college education. But.. you can do it, with God's
help.

Someone ask me," would you do it again?" Yes. I would!!  I
could look the world over, and never find a better husband
or father for my kids or  grandfather for my grandkids.

Today's Plans...
Kenny is working today at his camp house.. I am working
at home. But , we will celebrate later today.. We are going
out to eat. [and let me add... a couple days ago.. he came in
the house holding a big bunch of daffodils in his hand..He said,
" Happy Anniversary"... He knows , this is my favorite flower.
the warm temps were going away, with freezing temps
returning. He knew they would be gone , on our anniversary.
You see. He is so NICE.!!
Also..The night we got married, we were too poor to go
on a honey moon.. so we went to our newly rented apartment.
I had bought a cheap frozen lemon pie, and we eat it that night.
So each year.. I buy one of those pies.. They are special..even
though , not so tasty.ha

I love you Kenny ..  forever!

Twin Granddaughter's Dresses..

Ashlee Gail
Her dress is  orange /white polka dot, with white
lace trim and blue silk flowers .

Amy Grace..
Her dress is a bright sunshine yellow/white polka
dot.It has a white trim with blue silk flowers.

Dresses were made from a simple a-line dress
pattern. Has cute little sleeves and  lace trim.

Of course, I could not leave well enough alone..[That is
me for sure.ha]  I found these little hats, and thought the
girls would enjoy playing with them.. I could not find
a white one.. so I got blue hats, and added orange /white polka
dot ribbon and a a white /blue silk flower. I added the
blue flowers to the dress..to bring in some blue.

Amy's dress got the same treatment. I also got her
a matching purse and trimmed it out to match
the hat...
Note:  Ashlee told me,that she really didn't like purses..
[Figured you would wonder why she didn't get a purse.ha]

This was fun sewing.. I had the fabric in my stash.. So, only
bought the hats and purse.

I told about this make here.

Sewing in a Clean Sewing Room.. & A Wrap Dress in Progress

What do you do , when the sewing room
is in a total mess? You quit sewing, and
just think about  how much you need a
good spring cleaning!!  Then finally ....
one day, you do it!!!!

How nice it was to fold  each and every piece
of fabric.. I found stuff, I didn't know I had.ha

Love these blue wicker baskets. [found them a
local Dirt Cheap store for a round $3 a peice..]
Not only did I clean this book shelf, I organized
my sewing tools , accessories in the baskets, and
tagged the baskets with what was inside..[so,
I would be able to find stuff,ha]
Add caption

These 3  photos are of the wall cabinets, over my cutting table.

How nice to be able to see my cutting table..

My little sewing corner!!

Since getting my sewing room cleaned and organized,  I have
been sewing.. I finished the twins dresses [I posted about in last post]. Will share photos ,when I get some.. Will probably see them during spring break? I am now working on an Olivia Walton Wrap Dress.. [will be posting soon].  [It is now in Eva Girl's Etsy Shop, YEA..-I will posting about that ,and the link real soon.]

Must tell you what my "sweet" hubby said about this big cleaning
job. I had pulled all the fabric off the shelves and out of the cabinets.. and it was a Big mess.. he said," Oh Lord!!  I wouldn't
do that..." I ask why? "Because, you will just go in there and mess it up again! Why do all that work?"   Now...what do you say to that?
I think I  "may have" threw a bag of cotton or something at him.ha
But.. I really knew............. He was telling the truth.hahaha

New post of my dress and the girls dresses soon......
