Happy New Years- Goals for 2013

New Years 2013

I would like to say thank you to each and every person who
has visited this blog. I apprecaite each one of you. I started
this blog in 2011, I had found Mena's Sew Weekly Blog
and was so encouraged that she had made a  dress
a week in 2010. I had sewed for 35 yrs . But, mostly
sewed for my daughter and other children. So fun!! But,
she encourgaged me to sew more for "me". I  wanted
to start a blog, to keep up with the things I sewed. It has
opened  up the doors to  so many friendships , all over
the world. And to that, I am so thankful.  I  am not
computer savy [at all!!], I  am not a photographer
and definitely not photogenic!! lol
But ,even with all this.. And  the lack of a savy
blog, you have ALL supported me, THANK YOU

My sewing Goals for 2013 are

#1- Use my stash, and buy less fabric

#2-  I want to venture into sewing with knits
..[Can  you believe, I am scared of knits? ha].

#3- Improve my sewing, learn new techniques
Take some sewing classes.

But most of all.. I want to remember that, sewing is a hobby, it
is not to stress us out.. But , just to enjoy.. No stress of
finishing a garment by a certain date.. Or having to make
a certain number of garments. Or even having to make
a certain kind of garment.. Just enjoy!!

  1. It is great to have some goals for 2013 isn't it? I need to get rid of some of my stash too, that is one of my goals as well. I have bought the Bombshell class on Craftsy, I believe most of the Craftsy courses are pretty good. Happy sewing to you for 2013, looking forward to seeing what you make.

  2. Hope you enjoy the Craftsy Bombshell class.I hear it is a really good one.. I am thinking about doing some this year. I think maybe the one on sewing with knits.. Happy sewing to you too.

  3. I like your sewing goals, simple and realistic. Fun is the bottom line, with some learning along the way. Glad you started blogging to share with us. 2012 was a good sewing year for you.
Wishing you an equally wonderful 2013!...J

    1. Thank you Judith [we almost have the same name, don't we? Actually, my parents did not have a name picked out for me, and the doctor ask mama to name me after his wife, her name was Judith,ha]
Happy New year and happy Sewing to you.

  4. Good goals! I agree with Lizzie that the Craftsy courses are amazing. Hopefully they will run a special soon too. Happy New Year!

    1. Thank you Stacie.. and Happy new Year to you too.
bty... you are the one, that has got me wanting to learn to sew with knits.. I love all the cute tops and things you have been making.. thansk for sharing..and now hope I learn to do it..ha

  5. Judy, we have the same goals, to use our stash! Let me buddies and encourage each other to stick to this goal. I certainly need to see the bottom of my shelves instead do fabric!

    1. Cathe, its a deal.. We can't make excuses for me ,when I head to Tupelo.. We have to tell me..."NO fabric purchases...just"
      We will help each other...

  6. Excellent goals!!! :)
I started sewing with knits before I knew they were any different. LOL I guess my ignorance was bliss. ;) I love knits. I think one of my goals is to sew more knits, too. But I need some fun prints! ;)

    1. Thank you and Happy new years to you and your family [Know your enjoying having your son home]
I see you sew with knits, do you have any pointers for me?

  7. Good Morning, Judy, and Happy New Year! I love your goals...don't we all need to use up our "stash"...but it is just so tempting to "pick up" a little of that adorable print when we are at the fabric store! I have quite a collection of vintage sheets that I want to use up this fabric shelf is overflowing! I'm thinking of some quilts...great indoor activity now that we have all this snow!

Give Kenny a hug from us...wishing you both a most joyous New Year's Day!

    1. Hi Laura,
Happy New years to you and your family too. My prayers are with you.
Do you know what Laura, I think the reason I have such a "big" fabric stash is; I wonder into a fabric dept. and all those pretty little prints just pop out..And I HAVE to go home with something, lol.
I agree , snow on the ground and the fire going, sounds like quilting time.. [just add a cup of hot chocolate with marsmellows.ha]
      Hugs to you both..

  8. I'm so glad you decided to blog; your projects are so inspirational to me. I love your goals—I guess I should set some myself!

  9. One of the things I loved about sewing my knit top was that I didn't have to do any adjustments. Woo Hoo!!!! The fabric is so forgiving.

    1. Beverly, I love those "forgiving" tops.. Wonderful! And I love the pattterns that don't require so much adjusting..So nice to just go cut it out and sew...
      Thanks for stopping by.

  10. Happy New Year to you! I don't sew for me much either it's mostly always for my daughter...I hope to keep sewing through the year.Llast year I lost my urge LOL. Also to stop taking the easy option of just making skirts....

    1. Thanks ... I love your skirts.. so pretty.. and a skirt is always so comfortable.. I like them better than dresses.. and make quiet a few myself..
